The Dung Beetle

The winning entries for the wildlife photographer of the year, included one capturing a Dung beetle. This tiny creature was pictured struggling to push a huge ball of dung, many times it's size, through the sand. A seemingly simple task but for the Dung beetle one which required extraordinary effort.

Life sometimes is like that. What to others looks straightforward and easy-peasy, to ourselves can be a real and challenging struggle. It all depends on where you are coming from; what hurdles or difficulties have already been faced and met with resilience or disappointment.

In my third poetry book Touching the Space Between, I wrote about not judging others when we know nothing of their life journey. I titled it

You don't know

You don't know where I'm coming from

nor just how long it took.

You don't know what has weighed me down

the baggage I forsook.

You don't know my struggles and fears

nor how the healing came.

You don't know the darkest of days

when everything was in vain.

You don't know the surrender made

to love my God, my King.

You don't know how he holds me tight

and frees my heart to sing.

A time for listening
